How to read a whitening product label before you buy
A useful label should help you understand what you are buying and how it is intended to be used. Read it before relying on the front-of-box promise.

Find the essential details
Look for the product name, ingredients, directions, warnings, expiry information and manufacturer or supplier contact. Check that the instructions are in a form you can understand. If key information is missing, ask the seller before using the product.
Translate the claim into a question
If a label says “instant”, ask what result was measured and under what conditions. If it says “enamel care”, ask what that means for the actual product. A broad phrase is not a personalised recommendation or a guarantee that you will achieve the example photograph.
Check it against your existing plan
Compare the directions with your dentist’s advice and any appointment aftercare. Note every product already in use. If instructions conflict, seek clarification rather than adding both schedules together or choosing the longest application time.
Keep a record for later
Photograph the label and keep the batch details if present. This is useful when asking a supplier about a product or explaining your routine at a consultation. Our home-product comparison guide helps you decide which practical questions to ask next.
