Everyday care
Cleaning between teeth: the habit whitening cannot replace
Whitening is not a substitute for cleaning the spaces between your teeth. Make this part of ordinary care, not something you only think about before a cosmetic appointment.

Why those spaces matter
The Australian Dental Association recommends daily cleaning between teeth to remove food and bacterial build-up. Options include floss, floss picks, interdental brushes and water flossers. The right tool and technique depend on your mouth and what you can use comfortably.
Get a demonstration
If flossing feels awkward, show your dentist what you currently do. Ask them to demonstrate a suitable approach rather than relying on a fast video. Describe tight spaces, dental work or difficulty holding the tool so the advice is specific.
Make the habit easy to remember
Choose a consistent time and keep supplies beside the rest of your routine. Pack the same tool when travelling. If you repeatedly skip it because it is difficult, treat that as a reason to ask for a better technique or option, not a personal failure.
Keep expectations realistic
Interdental cleaning is an oral-care habit, not a promise to bleach teeth. Discuss ongoing gum bleeding with your dentist. If you also want cosmetic whitening, keep the health conversation and the desired colour change clear as separate questions.
